Green Shop

Green businesses are all over the place these days... but how often do you see a green bicycle shop? When we decided to open our shop, we wanted to make sure we did everything within reason to make less of an impact on the environment we live in. Below are a few steps we have taken to become a green business. Since you cant spell recycle without cycle, it makes sense for us to go the extra step.

Building

It first starts with our building. With lots of research, we were able to find an old concrete block building built in 1968 that had been used for automotive purposes for the last 40+ years. After two years of renovation, we were able to convert this old ran down building into an efficient retail store. Without government assistance, we helped uplift the appearance of the community.

Cooling

Next we retained the original evaporative cooling system the building came with that allows us to cool our facility on most normal days for less than a few dollars. We also installed two high efficient HVAC heating an cooling centers which will enable us to cool the store on even the hottest of days. On top of that, we installed 4 high speed industrial ceiling fans that helps keep things cool. So when the middle of summer hits, Casino Bicycles will be the coolest place to hang out!

Windows

Most people think windows are windows, but they are not all the same. We went with high efficient, double pane, low-E coated glass which allows the light to come in, but the heat to stay out!

Metal Recycling

When most bicycle shops take off old parts (chains, cassettes, cables, frames, forks, etc) they go right into the garbage and into our local landfill. These materials have some value to them for recycling. We recycle both steel and aluminum, so think twice before you throw your old parts away, we will gladly take them and dispose of them correctly.
